About Zero Containment
Zero Containment is a free, independent live map of what is happening on Earth: emergencies, security signals, infrastructure, markets and the weather around them, with the emergency number for wherever you are.
What it shows
- Natural hazards: earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, wildfires, hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, floods and landslides, extreme heat and cold, smoke and air quality, space weather.
- Human-made emergencies: chemical spills, nuclear incidents, explosions, transport disasters, infrastructure failures and outages, attacks and civil emergencies.
- Health: disease outbreaks reported by the World Health Organization.
- Signals: military aircraft, GPS interference, internet outages, shipping chokepoints, news attention for geopolitical hotspots, markets and prediction markets.
- Local: alerts and weather where you are, surf and tides, and the local emergency number.
How it works
Official agency alerts are shown exactly as issued, mapped to four severity levels (SEV-1 extreme to SEV-4 minor). Newswire items are headlines from the GDELT global news index, sorted by keyword and clearly marked as unverified. For every event, Zero Containment counts how many independent sources report it.
