Live Earthquake Map
Every earthquake on Earth as it happens, from USGS and EMSC seismic networks. See magnitude, depth, felt reports, tsunami flags and the distance from you, updated within seconds.
Where this data comes from
- USGS real-time earthquake feeds (worldwide, magnitude 1+ in the U.S.)
- EMSC live seismic stream (Europe and worldwide)
- NOAA tsunami warning centers
Official alerts are shown exactly as issued and graded SEV-1 (extreme) to SEV-4 (minor). Each event shows its sources, how many independent feeds confirm it, and when it was received. About our data.
Frequently asked questions
How often is the earthquake map updated?
Continuously. EMSC events stream in within seconds of detection, and USGS feeds refresh every minute.
What magnitude earthquake can you feel?
Most people feel earthquakes of magnitude 3 or more nearby. Damage usually starts around magnitude 5.5 to 6, depending on depth, distance and building quality.
Where do earthquakes happen most?
Around the Pacific Ring of Fire (Japan, Indonesia, Chile, Alaska, California), and along the Alpine-Himalayan belt from the Mediterranean to Iran, Nepal and China.
Does the map show tsunami warnings?
Yes. Earthquakes that could generate a tsunami are flagged, and official tsunami bulletins from NOAA appear as their own events.
Stay safe
