Flood and landslide safety: what to do
Floods are among the most common and deadly disasters. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles driven into water.
What to do
- Move to higher ground now. Turn around, do not drown: never drive into floodwater.
- 15 cm (6 in) of moving water can knock you down; 30 cm (1 ft) can float a car.
- Avoid floodwater; it can hide debris, live wires and sewage.
