Wildfire safety: what to do

Wind-driven wildfires can move faster than people can run. Leaving early is the single most important decision.

If you are in danger right now, call your local emergency number. Find the number for your country.

What to do

  1. If told to evacuate, leave immediately. Do not wait to see the flames.
  2. Keep a go-bag, medications and N95 masks ready. Know two ways out.
  3. For smoke, stay indoors with windows closed and run a HEPA filter if you have one.
